Terms of service

These terms are the rules for using this site. By using the site, creating an account or buying anything, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Who we are

This site, readtheopen.com, is run by Bowtie Capital LLC, an Illinois limited liability company. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Bowtie Capital LLC. "You" means anyone who uses the site.

More about who runs the site is on the About page. Email us at help@readtheopen.com.

Who can use the site

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use this site, create an account or buy anything.
  • Paid membership is open to US residents only. When you subscribe, you confirm that you live in the United States. We may end a paid membership if we learn that this is not true.

What you get

The daily read is our paid membership. It includes:

  • A morning map of ES and NQ, posted before the 09:30 ET open
  • The calls of our three published rules, The Open, The Close and The Map, with their levels and results
  • Every read, posted with its time and its levels
  • Each read sent to a private Telegram channel for members
  • Notifications on your device, if you turn them on, when each read is posted
  • A public record that runs 24 hours behind the members' posts
  • A page of hypothetical backtest trades
  • A PDF of each course, for your personal use

Some of these, such as the public record, can be seen by people who are not members.

Our courses are The Open, with 7 lessons, The Close, with 8 lessons including a test checklist and journal template, The Map, with 13 lessons, and The Wait, with 11 lessons. Lessons 1 and 2 of each are free. The rest of the courses come with the daily read, monthly or yearly, for as long as your membership is active. The courses are not sold separately.

We aim to post the morning map before the 09:30 ET open. We do not promise that it will arrive on time, or that there will be a post every day. Posts and alerts can be late or fail. Markets can be closed. We can change, add or remove parts of the membership or the course at any time.

Education only, not advice

Everything on this site is education and impersonal commentary about US index futures: ES and NQ, and the micro contracts MES and MNQ. It is written for a general audience.

It is not investment, trading, legal or tax advice. It is not a recommendation to buy or sell anything for any person's account. It does not take your goals, money or situation into account.

We do not:

  • Give individual advice
  • Manage or direct any account
  • Place or execute trades for anyone
  • Reply to questions about anyone's own positions, trades or trading accounts

Bowtie Capital LLC is not registered with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) or the National Futures Association (NFA). It is not a registered commodity trading advisor, broker or investment adviser. It relies on 17 CFR 4.14(a)(9). Under that rule, a person is not required to register as a commodity trading advisor if it does not engage in any of the following activities:

  • Directing client accounts
  • Providing commodity trading advice based on, or tailored to, the commodity interest or cash market positions or other circumstances or characteristics of particular clients

The owner of Bowtie Capital LLC may hold positions in what a post discusses. Each post says whether that is the case.

The same posts for every member

Every member gets the same posts. We do not send different content to different people, and we do not tailor anything to you.

We do not know what is in your trading account, and we do not comment on it. If you ask us about your own positions or trades, by email, in the help assistant or anywhere else, we will decline to answer.

Hypothetical results

This site shows backtests and other simulated results. These are hypothetical. They are not trades that anyone made. They have limits, and they are built with the benefit of hindsight. They are not a promise of future results. The full required statement is on our risk disclosure page, and it appears next to the results.

When we publish what a rule or a read did, such as The Close's result after the close, that shows what the rule or the read did. It does not show what any member's account did.

Risk of loss

Trading futures carries a substantial risk of loss. It is not suitable for everyone. You can lose more than you put in. Only trade money you can afford to lose. Please read our risk disclosure. It is part of these terms.

You alone decide whether to trade, what to trade and how much. You alone are responsible for your results.

Some parts of the site need an account. You sign in with a link that we email to you. There is no password.

  • Use an email address that you control, and keep it up to date.
  • Sign-in links expire. If yours has, ask for a new one.
  • Anyone who can open your email can sign in as you. Do not forward sign-in links.
  • Tell us at help@readtheopen.com if you think someone else has used your account.

You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Subscriptions, renewal and cancellation

The daily read costs $39 a month or $299.99 a year. You choose a plan at checkout. Payments go through Stripe, and your card details never touch this site.

It renews automatically. Your membership renews every month or every year, depending on your plan, until you cancel. Each time, we charge the card you used at checkout.

You can cancel online, any time. Sign in, choose Account, choose Change next to your plan, choose Cancel subscription, then choose Confirm cancellation. The full steps are on our how to cancel page. You do not need to email or call us. Your account shows your next renewal date. Cancel before that date to avoid the next charge.

If you cancel, you keep paid access until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not charge you again.

Price changes. If we change the price of your plan, the new price applies from your next renewal. We will email you before then. If you do not want the new price, cancel before the renewal date.

If a payment fails, Stripe may try your card again. If it keeps failing, your paid access may end.

Refunds

We do not give refunds after you buy, except where the law requires one. This applies to monthly and yearly plans and to renewals. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and we do not charge you again.

Acceptable use

You may use the site for your own personal use only. Do not:

  • Share your login or your sign-in links, or let anyone else use your account
  • Copy, repost, forward, sell or share paid posts, course materials, videos or the morning map, in whole or in part, including by screenshot
  • Use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to copy the site or to overload the help assistant
  • Try to get around access limits or rate limits
  • Use the site to break the law or to harm others

If you break these rules, we may suspend or end your account. If we end your account for that reason, you will not get a refund of the unused part of your paid period, except where the law requires one.

Our content and your license

Everything on this site belongs to Bowtie Capital LLC or the people who license it to us. That includes posts, the morning map, videos, course lessons, charts, text, design and the Read the Open and Bowtie Capital names.

While your account is in good standing, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to read, watch and use paid content for your own education. We can end that license if you break these terms. We keep all other rights.

The help assistant

The help page has an automated assistant. It uses AI to answer questions about membership, billing and the course. It can be wrong. It does not give trading advice. If what it says differs from these terms, these terms apply. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your messages.

Please do not type card numbers, passwords or details of your trades into the assistant.

Other companies' services

The site depends on services run by other companies. Ghost(Pro) hosts the site and member accounts. Stripe handles payments. TradingView makes our charts. Cloudflare, Anthropic and Resend help run the help assistant, as our privacy policy explains. These companies have their own terms and privacy policies, and those apply to their services.

If one of them has a problem, part of the site may stop working, and we cannot promise otherwise. TradingView is a separate company, and we are not affiliated with it.

Disclaimers

We provide the site and everything on it "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be accurate, complete, on time, free of errors, or available without interruption. Levels, times, prices and charts can be wrong or late. We do not promise that you will make money or avoid losses. To the extent the law allows, we make no other promises, express or implied, including any promise that the site is fit for a particular purpose.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • We are not responsible for your trading losses or lost profits. We are also not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages that come from using the site or relying on anything on it.
  • For anything else, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that led to the claim.

Some states do not allow some of these limits. If yours does not, they apply to you only as far as your state's law allows. Nothing in these terms limits any right or liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. We will post the new version on this page and change the date at the bottom. If a change is significant, we will also email members before it takes effect. If you keep using the site after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, cancel your membership and stop using the site.

Governing law and courts

Illinois law governs these terms and any dispute about the site, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any lawsuit must be filed in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois. You and we agree to those courts' authority. This does not take away any right you have under your own state's consumer laws that cannot be waived.

General

If a part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms, our privacy policy and our risk disclosure are the whole agreement between you and us about the site.
