About

Read the Open teaches three rules for Nasdaq-100 futures, NQ and the micro MNQ, with ES read alongside: The Open, The Close and The Map, plus a fourth course on the trader who has to follow them. Each rule's decisions are posted at the time they are made, before the outcome is known.

Members of the daily read get the morning map before the open, every call from the three rules as it is posted, each read on Telegram, all four courses, and the full backtest archive. Everyone can read the first two lessons of each course, the free notes, and the record a day late.

Who runs this

One trader runs Read the Open, through Bowtie Capital LLC, an Illinois company. I have traded options and futures for 18 years and hold an MBA in Finance.

My name is not on the site, so don't take anything here on trust. Check the record. Every read is posted with its time, and every result is posted after the close, wins and losses alike.

Most of what I have tested failed. The failures are written up too, in the note What we tested, including what failed. The Open and The Close held up on data they were not built on, after commissions and slippage. The Map has not yet: it was about break-even on data before its tuning period, so it trades small and the site says so.

Testing does not make a rule work in the future. Past results, real or hypothetical, do not guarantee future results.

What this site is

It is education and impersonal commentary. It is not advice. Nobody here manages money, places trades or looks at your brokerage account. Bowtie Capital LLC is not a registered commodity trading advisor, broker or investment adviser. Backtests are hypothetical, and futures trading carries a substantial risk of loss. Read the risk disclosure before you trade.

The owner may trade the same rules in their own accounts, and a post doesn't say when. Every member gets the same post, and nothing here is about anyone's account. A public record runs 24 hours behind the members' posts. We never comment on your account.
