- Description: Seven lessons on The Open, the rule that trades the morning’s move and is flat by the close: the idea, the rules, the routine, sizing and what a bad year looks like.
- Author: Read the Open
- Tags: Course, The open

The Open trades the morning’s move. It waits for the index to break out of its normal range after the open, trades in that direction, gets out if the move fades, and is flat before the close. Nothing is held overnight.

Every claim in this course comes from rules we have coded and tested. Each lesson says what the testing found, including what went wrong, and ends with an exercise to do on your own charts.

## Test results are hypothetical

[Hypothetical results1](#hypothetical-results), not actual trading. The full statement is at the end of this page.

Education only. Nothing here is advice about your account.

**1 Hypothetical results.** These results are based on simulated or hypothetical performance results that have certain inherent limitations. Unlike the results shown in an actual performance record, these results do not represent actual trading. Also, because these trades have not actually been executed, these results may have under-or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated or hypothetical trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to these being shown.
